I was there on a International World Changers mission trip with about 60 high school/ college age kids. We were all split up into crews and had different locations where we would work in the town.
I was on a sports crew which means we would teach the kids we worked with basketball, kickball and American football.
There were about 15 kids we worked with all week.
The area we worked was a rough area. There were many kids who had alcoholic mothers or fathers who had run away. Some of the children were abused.
In fact the first day we were there a little five year old girl showed up.
She was so tiny and cute that a girl from our crew remarked "look, she's wearing make up" another guy (from the crew) looked more closely at her and said "that's not make-up".
There was a lot of culture shock for me that day.
One of the things this mission trip showed me was to be thankful for the little things.
Things like being able to flush my toilet paper, not having to take an ice cold shower every morning, and not having to sleep in a cot with dirt in it.
The trip really opened my eyes to how blessed we are in America.
This trip also showed me that being a missionary is not glamorous. It shouldn't be something that Christians think is because its not. It's hard.
Serving God is still serving God.
Whether your in Mexico in your own neighborhood inviting someone to go to church. In fact it should be a little easier because you don't need a translator in the states.
So if I ever do go on a mission work again I want to glorify God in it.
If I stay home though in Tennessee and have ten kids I want to glorify God and show Jesus to my children.
Because it is true you can be a missionary ANYWHERE you are at.

AN INTRODUCTION

As you probably guessed this blog is written by two sisters.
We have shared a blog together before when we were about 11 and 13 but basically lost interest.
So, we are very excited to announce to all of our fans (we love you mommy!) that we are starting up a new blog which is so creatively titled "Two Sisters".
Get ready for posts loaded with pictures, thoughts and maybe a movie review or two.
